If your question is not on the list, please feel free to contact us at info@americanautoshield.com. We’re happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have about our programs or services.

1. Does American Auto Shield insure its vehicle service contracts?

Yes! AAS offers the consumer the following protection:

  • Financial stability
  • The additional financial backing of an AM Best Excellent Rated insurer
  • Our claims administration expertise – Experience, ASE Certified Adjusters, and in-house claims handling

2. Has American Auto Shield been evaluated for quality?

Yes. AAS is recognized by the following reliable resources:

FACT: Knowing who will be administering your service contract can give you insight into the potential weaknesses of the coverage you’re considering and the company’s ability to pay claims. Administrators act as claims adjusters, authorizing the payment of claims to the service repair facility under the contract terms – so make sure they have the financial resources to meet their obligations under your contract. After all, the ultimate measure of an administrative company is ensuring that your claims are paid quickly and easily.

3. How does AAS pay claims?

American Auto Shield makes claim reimbursement simple for you and your repair facility. By implementing SecureCard from StoneEagle Group, AAS makes claim payments by corporate credit card directly to the repair facility:

  • Only 15-30 minutes for payment to process
  • All you pay is your deductible (if any)
  • No limit on the number of claims you file
  • No need to pay first and then work to be reimbursed

FACT: Since implementing SEcureCard, American Auto Shield has doubled our claims productivity, providing a fast and worry free claims experience for our customers. Additionally, by eliminating overcharges and fraud associated with paying claims, we’re able to keep our service contracts at a competitive price for the consumer.

4. Can my claim amounts exceed the amount of money I paid for my vehicle service contract?

Yes. There are no coverage caps on our service contracts.

5. Can I really take my vehicle anywhere for repairs?

Yes. As long as the repair facility is licensed and is located in the United States or Canada, you really can choose any dealer, national chain, or local mechanic to perform the repairs on your vehicle.

6. How do AAS deductibles work?

No matter how many parts require repair, our customers only pay one deductible per repair visit. Many of our plans offer a zero deductible option, so you’ll never reach into your pocket for a covered repair.

7. Is my AAS coverage transferable?

Yes. Simply provide American Auto Shield with a completed Transfer Application along with the transfer fee as stated in your contract coverage pages, a copy of the bill of sale or title showing the new owner’s name, the odometer reading at time of sale, and service records from the sale date of the contract showing routine maintenance of the vehicle. Please note that the service contract can only be transferred party to party and NOT to a dealer.

8. What if I want to cancel my AAS coverage?

Although we’re certain you’ll appreciate your American Auto Shield coverage plan’s peace of mind, you are able to cancel your coverage. Include the service contract number, reason for cancellation, current odometer reading, customer signature and date, then simply mail the information with the original signature to our address.

9. Does AAS solicit business by telephone?

No. American Auto Shield does not sell service contracts directly, we do not contact consumers by telephone, and we do not condone high pressure sales tactics. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of reputable franchise and independent dealers, direct marketing companies, membership organizations and financial institutions. To ensure customer service satisfaction, AAS also conducts routine reviews of its vendor services.

10. Can I preview a service contract online?

Yes. You can view our Standard Auto Coverage Pages and programs at http://www.americanautoshield.com/programs.html. Specific service contract coverage varies depending on service contract purchased, optional coverage selections, place of purchase, and vendor agreement. Before purchase, please request a review of the actual contract you will purchase from the vendor.
